Maria on standby

I'm a highly-educated domestic helper as of now till when my four taitai friends finish their round of mahjong. Well, two taitais and the other two are just taitai-wannabes, technically speaking. So highly-educated and under-employed that I'm blogging on taitai Teo's laptop now. Anytime one of my mistresses needs water or anything from outside the walls of this games room, the serf will have to drop her blogging and spring into action. Exciting.

But the last time anything like this happened, Singaporeans were still queuing up for Hello Kitty at Macnalds. Madness. So, I consider it a blessing that slavery in this group has been abolished until tonight.

*Ade games this round. 4 tais. And Viv and Juan have expressed their utmost dismay. Wenn seems rather accepting of the $1.60 debit. Let the blogging continue.

It is, upon careful consideration, rather odd that I'm here instead of clubbing with Kyn (Welcome back, darlin!!!) at PLAY now. After all, surely, music, booze and dancing are way more fun than serfdom. But, like I said, the last time this happened... blahblah...

*Juan just lamented that she's the losing one, so far. But hey! They are only into the east wind now. Lotsa opportunities to recoup, Juan! Gambatte! The serf acts as a motivator and entertainer as well.

Before assuming my duty here, I went for dinner at Inle with my family. It's Janet's birthday. Recently, by using Janet as a bait, we have been able to get my dad out to have family dinner at places more than 30 minutes bus-ride away from the house. Quite an achievement. They liked Burmese food all right. Though it's a bit to the salty side.

*Juan has begun to suspect that the other three conspired to make her sit at the place where the fengshui is the worst. That's one of the things I dislike about gambling - it makes people paranoid. haha

No. Actually, I do not dislike gambling. I'm very sporting in CNY gambling. But that's limited to card games. I can't stand Mahjong because it takes too bloody damn long to finish the game. I am the most patient person I know (and I'm not asking for anyone's opinion). But to sit down and play Mahjong? Sorry. Out of my threshold. Gambling, to me, is a matter of luck. Let's either win or lose within 10 minutes, can? I don't want to strategise and observe tiles swimming in the sea. So, there! Mahjong is a strenuous mind-game to me and yet, there's no promise of reward. Not my kind of game.

Which is why, being the Maria while my friends play this tedious game is my chosen destiny.

*and the blogging has to stop now because it's time for the first tea-break.

Fantastic way to spend Saturday night, don't you think? I mean it. At least, I don't have to spend anything more than the cab fare home later. Frugality goes a long way.

== While cooking Maggi mee for Mam, Maria remembers the last time was not Hello Kitty Macnalds, but at home with Apple, Wenn, Kay and my mummy. The menu comprised of seaweed chicken nuggets, Maggie mee and honey drink. ==
